Antibiotics

In recent years, bacteria have become increasingly resistant to antibiotics. This is due, in large part, to their inappropriate use (e.g., giving antibiotics in the setting of a viral infection). Antibiotic-resistant bacteria pose a significant threat to children and to the community.

  • Patient must be examined prior to receiving a prescription for antibiotics
  • If you think your child needs an antibiotic, please call for an appointment

For this reason, we believe that it is important to prescribe antibiotics only when clinically indicated. Unfortunately, it is impossible to tell over the phone whether an infection requires an antibiotic prescription. For that reason, it is our policy to prescribe antibiotics only after we have had the opportunity to examine your child. If you are concerned that your child has a bacterial infection that requires antibiotics, please call our office to schedule an appointment.
