Patients ages 5-11 should be self scheduled for the vaccine through the patient portal. Ages 12+ should email vaccine@oakhurstpediatrics.com for a vaccine appointment (16+ booster vaccine or booster).

5 years and older; 2 doses needed separated by 3 weeks + booster
Testing: Available for any age patient. PCR and Rapid
- PCR can be done 5 days after the last exposure. If it is negative you can end quarantine as early as day 7. Results take 24 – 48 hours from the end of the business day.
- Rapid should be done when symptoms are present, and are most accurate 2-3 days after symptoms begin. Results in 15 minutes.

My fully vaccinated child was exposed to Covid/ no symptoms;
- If you’ve had close contact(link) with someone who has COVID-19, you should get tested on day 5 after your exposure, even if you don’t have symptoms. You should also wear a mask indoors and in public for 10 days following exposure or until your test result is negative.
- If your test result is positive, isolate at home for 5 days. Your last day of isolation is 5 days from the day after you had a positive test.

My fully vaccinated child was exposed to Covid AND has symptoms;
- If you have symptoms of COVID-19, you should get tested(link) and stay home(link) and away from others. See a healthcare provider if you are really sick.
- If your test result is positive, isolate at home for 5 days. Your last day of isolation is 5 days from when your symptoms began and you meet the following three conditions;
✔ You have not had a fever (without using fever-reducing medications) for at least 24 hours. ✔ Your other symptoms have improved since they first began. ✔ At least 5 full days have gone by since your symptoms first started.
- You should also wear a mask indoors and in public for at least 10 days following a positive test.

COVID-19 QUARANTINE VS. ISOLATION(link)
My child is not old enough for the vaccine or is otherwise unvaccinated
Unvaccinated, exposed to Covid/ no symptoms;
- Stay home for 5 days after your last contact with a person who has COVID-19.
- Watch for fever (100.4◦F), cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms(link) of COVID-19.
- If possible, stay away from people you live with, especially people who are at higher risk(link) for getting very sick from COVID-19.
- If parent and child can not separate, at the end of the parent quarantine, the child will need to start quarantine. Total time= 10 days. Parent need to remain masked around baby/ child during entire period.
After quarantine
- Watch for symptoms until 10 days after exposure.
- If you have symptoms, immediately self-isolate and contact your local public health authority or healthcare provider.
You may be able to shorten your quarantine
- You can get a PCR test on day 5 after the last exposure. If it is negative you can end quarantine on day 7.
Unvaccinated, symptoms of Covid-19
- Stay home for 10 days after your symptoms began
- Monitor and treat symptoms(link) of COVID-19.
- If possible, isolate yourself from people you live with, especially people who are at higher risk for getting very sick from COVID-19.
